Happy New Year!
This seems like a fitting time for me to tackle my first topic for Things Romance Heroes Love. When Emily and I were first talking about the concept behind these posts my first thoughts turned to what it meant to live a decadent lifestyle. Because—for me—that is the core of what separates mere men from stunningly handsome, playboy, egomaniacal, dominant, genus billionaires. It’s all about the lifestyle. And part of that lifestyle is having the best of the best in everything and that includes liquor.
And drinking it with style
Because Scotch is not a happy hour beverage.
A tycoon don’t just drink champagne on New Year’s, they get their own private reserve flown in from France for the party. Lots of champagne.
Quality and sophistication transcends every aspect of this man’s life. He is the epitome of decadence and nothing less than the best will do. His bar would feature bottles of Lagavulin, Blanton’s, Krug, Delord—brands you can’t find in the local watering hole.
Therefore, in order to properly convey your hero’s taste and style, you must do research. Lots and lots of research. Because a girl has to write what she knows, right? That’s rules, isn’t it? What top shelf liquor are you going to sample first? Scotch? Cognac? Champagne? I could probably recommend some good ones if you’re stuck. Not that I’m an alcoholic or anything…

I can’t seem to get in to scotch, though I did just write a character who was very particular about his brand (Johnnie Walker). I can always use some good recommendations for wine and champagne though!

I can definitely help you out with that!
